On the Rise: Lebanese bakery Manoushi

Meet Manoushi – a bustling Lebanese bakery serving up authentic pastries and pides in Watton Steet, Werribee

It’s the newest venture by owner Hadi Chami (known by locals as H), a stalwart in the local dining scene with his popular café and brunching hot spot, Notorious Espresso.

At Manoushi, Chami has been able to celebrate his Lebanese heritage with a menu of authentic Lebanese breakfast and lunch dishes – the same comforting pides and fragrant pizzas that he and his friends grew up eating.

The fit out is modern and with Hami’s café credentials, it’s no surprise that the coffee is excellent too.

The bakery does a busy trade in takeaways, but inside you’ll find a small number of sit-down tables where you can watch the team at work in the bustling open kitchen.

Everything is made onsite (even the cheese!) and fresh to order.

If you’re new to Lebanese dining, the team suggest starting with a fresh Zaatar or a soft and pillowy Cheese Pide, with just the right amount of cheesy stretch.

The fresh pizzas, kofta and falafel wraps are a great lunch or in-between meals snacking option, or for something very traditional try a Shanklish Pide with a tart Aryran yoghurt drink or fruity Bonjus.

With most dishes on the menu less than $10, it’s not hard to see why Manoushi has become a go-to for locals in search of fresh and tasty lunch options.
